Design experiments

This section explains how to program an experiment using LIONESS. We will go through setting up an experiment step-by-step with the help of an example experiment of a public goods game. Once you have completed these steps, you will be able to adapt the example scripts to fit your own experimental designs. The example scripts are written in the most widely used web-scripting languages (mainly PHP and HTML, but also some JavaScript and SQL). These languages allow for enormous flexibility, and have the big advantage that virtually all programming challenges can be tackled with simple Google search. In the final steps of this guided tour we give some practical tips for conducting an interactive experiment on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk.

Please notice that we assume that you are familiar with basic PHP and HTML. If you are not, our tutorial will get you started.

Before we dig into the programming itself, it is helpful to understand the basic architecture of LIONESS. Click here to proceed.
