2. Database set-up

The first step of implementing your design is to create a database and to declare your tables to store your variables. We do this with an SQL script.

An example script can be found at … If you open it in your source code editor, you will see that we specify various tables to read from and to write from. In this public goods game, we specify separate tables for parameters, subjects and decisions. In each of these tables, we create various columns to store data in. Note that for each variable, we specify the type of data we will store in it. For instance, an int (integer), or a decimal. The numbers between the brackets indicate the size of the variable (i.e. how many digits each entry can contain).

Open adminer.php and create a database. To create the tables, execute the script by clicking on the button (see below)
